Final Camp Notice - Just in case you need it!

Final Camp Notice

This is a final camp notice before we depart next Tuesday 29th November

All students have been issued with a gear list last term and it is important that your child is organised by Monday night.

  • All medication is to be handed into Mrs Armstrong by next Monday, in a bag and labelled with a name please. Asthma Inhalers and Antibiotics that are currently being used will be checked on Tuesday morning.
  • Please ensure your child’s gear is labelled.
  • All students must be at school by 8:15 am next Tuesday and report to the dome with all their gear.
  • All tents (with a name tag attached) need to go to Mr Higgins when you arrive on the Tuesday.
  • All raro and home baking / biscuits must be handed into Mrs Harrison.
  • All students need a packed lunch for the first day.
  • All students will be travelling on a bus.
  • We depart Lakewood Lodge at 1:30 pm and hope to arrive back at school between 2:45-3:00 pm on Friday.

We are delighted that the following parents are able to accompany us to Lakewood Lodge:
Angela Bullen, Craig Mullan, Alison Matthews, Eli Gibbs, Wilf Martin, Paul Garrett , Carl Silvester.

  • Parent’s bringing vehicles are Craig Mullan and Alison Matthews (Going to I.I. Athletics first).  
  • Parents bringing a vehicle and a trailer / horse float are Eli Gibbs and Paul Garrett.
  • Can all parents please park under the dome over by the Tech rooms by 8:00 am.
  • All parents will be travelling in private vehicles.

PLEASE NOTE: there are no laundry facilities at camp, so your child will need at least 4 or 5 changes of clothes.  Students need to bring OLD clothes that you are prepared to throw away if necessary.

4 x shorts                                                4 x t-shirts
2 x long pants for evening                       3 x sweatshirts
Underwear                                                 4 or 5 pairs of socks
Sandals / jandals (casual/evening)            Togs
Sunhat & woolly hat                                  Raincoat
3 towels                                                      3 x grocery bags for wet clothes/rubbish
Warm sleeping bag, pillow, extra blanket    Foam Bed Roll
Plastic plate, bowl, mug and cutlery             Tea towels
Drink bottle                                               Sunscreen & insect repellent                
Torch & batteries                                 Sleepwear – a tracksuit is ideal
A roll of toilet paper                                        Gumboots (Ideal for Horse riding)
Warm jersey / jacket for evening activities.
Sturdy walking shoes that are comfortable and worn in.
Back pack for overnight camp (with something to drink, a change of clothes, and some warm clothing).
Toilet bag (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hair brush, facecloth, shampoo, deodorant).
Personal medical requirements:  to be named, with instructions for use, and handed in to the teacher in charge the morning of camp.
FOOD REQUIRED:          Home baking to be collected by the teacher.
                    Packed lunch and bottle of water for the first day.
NOTE:  The only technology item that can be brought to camp is a camera. Staff will take no responsibility for this item.  NO PHONES, IPODS etc.

David Street Visit Week 7

The Tainui Team ventured down to David Street School to teach the younger children childhood games. We had a great afternoon, thank you to the teachers and students from David Street middle school for having us.
