Growing From Good to Great - Growth Mindset

View this video and think about what characters did the eagle display to go from 'Good to Great' and develop a growth mindset.

Comment on a time where you had to develop a growth mindset (a change of thinking) to overcome a problem.

What was the problem?

  5. Last year I upgraded my phone and all my contacts were changed over. I thought it was going automatically save all my apps and passwords but it didn't. So I decided I needed to do it myself (not ask my 23 year old son) and would quietly disappear to figure things out. Over a week, sometimes not always successful, I managed to sort all my apps without having to ask him. I felt good when they worked, so perseverance definitely worked for me.

  6. I have improved my catching by practicing and throwing the ball to myself and sometimes on my crazy catch. I did surf life saving at Tairua even though I was scared of getting smashed by the waves. I ended up loving it and I was proud that I persevered.

  7. When I went to Waimarino and the tide was going out I had to make a smart decision to swim faster then I have ever done before so the tide won't take me out.And on my first day of school i was just so nervous and i didn't know much new people at school but i was scared of them after, not seeing them for a year, but seeing the teacher put a smile on my face and i wasn't so scared anymore.

  8. When I was nine we moved back up here from Invercargill and moved to a new school, new teachers, classroom and bigger school. I only knew 3 kids (oldest of them is year six now) It felt natural to fit in with others.my old school was 367 kids, and David street was bigger.

  9. When I got asked to go to Canada I was very excited but... considering i haven't been on a plane before i was very nervous as well. So I got home from dads and my step dad said to me would you like to go but because I haven't been flying he told me it would be a great experience. From today until Christmas im earning and saving money. Im persevering and ready for the 3 weeks that im looking forward to!

  13. At dance we have a thing called exams and medals and I was scared to do them one year but my dance teacher told me that she was scared to do hers when she was younger but she still did them and enjoyed it so I did my exams and medals and got a high rating!

  14. That eagle video is very inspiring! When I was year six, I was doing gymnastics at step four. I had a real struggle on the beam, and at one competition, I fell of the beam 5 times in one routine! It was really frustrating, but I worked through it and found that getting angry with myself doesn't help. At the last comp of the season, I won a gold medal on the beam! I am so proud of myself, and I will never forget the memory of standing on the podium, when I had just conquered, what I thought was impossible.
